China 3D Printing Titanium Alloy

China 3D printing titanium alloy

3D printing is related to aviation industry applications. It is a demonstration of technology made in the United States. In recent years, China has begun to apply 3D printing in titanium alloys, aluminum-lithium alloys, ultra-high-strength steels, high-temperature alloys and other materials. technology. It is reported that China's 3D printing is chemically stable and has high reliability in molding processing, which has greatly reduced the manufacturing cost of high-performance materials.

For example, in electron beam welding technology, high-energy electron beams can be used to directly melt metal materials in a vacuum environment, which can rapidly melt metals. Digital control scanning can also be used to ensure the quality of metal deposition in the molten zone, which is very suitable for processing large turbine disk parts. At present, the electron beam rapid digital forming technology has been able to melt and weld metal plates with a thickness of more than 40 to 100 mm, and the types of metals that can be processed by the electron beam are more and more in the case of inert gas isolation protection or vacuum.

From the perspective of specific R&D practice, China has reached the world's advanced 3D printing level in less than 20 years. In the late 1990s, China's high-power electron beam technology and tow additive forming technology developed. In 2006, the electron beam rapid prototyping research division was established, and specialized technologies were used to develop materials such as stable melt solidification and large-scale structural deformation control. . At present, China has been able to 3D printing aircraft parts, waste heat control during molding, metallographic structure control in metal components, molding time control, metal crystal growth control and other fields have been relatively mature.

The reason why the electron beam rapid prototyping technology is advanced is because the printing speed of 3D metal printing can reach 15KG/hour, and the industrial maturity of equipment is already high. It can be basically composed of commercial off-the-shelf technology (COTS) product mix, and the production line construction cost is low. It has a strong industrial base. In the field of engines, China is actively studying the technology of electron beam-controlled single crystal metal near-net formation. Once breakthroughs are made, the problems of traditional single-crystal turbine blade production and high production cost will be greatly improved. Improve the performance of aero engines, and provide great help for engine development and other improvements.
